About the Author
Anaida Parvaneh is known for her famed rise in the Indian pop music scene of the nineties. She is an award-winning celebrity chef, artist, inspirational speaker, and healer. Her 'Power of You' workshops employ music, food, and art to help people connect to their inner selves.
Tatva is a colouring book however, it is not the usual colour book with random images meant to be coloured by the reader.
It is a book that has a lot of hidden meanings and signs which have the power to heal a reader while they colour the book. The time spent with this book is therapeutic and has a calming effect on one's mind.
Bringing together aspects of Hinduism, Sufism, Buddhism, and Judaism, author Anaida Parveh creates an interesting melange of thoughts, illustrations, and the deeper meaning behind it. The mere exercise of flipping through those pages and reading that symbolism behind those images was profound.
Her illustrations are thought-provoking, and at the same time, they are soothing when you go through them again and again while colouring them. The beauty of the book lies in the fact that there is no sequence that is important. The reader is free to flip open any page with any illustration that attracts them at the moment and start colouring it while reading the meaning behind that illustration on the opposite page.
I used this book in that manner and took it as a sign from the Universe. I believed the Universe wanted me to read that message that day and meditate on it while colouring the illustration. The impact was deep and the result was an anxiety-free me, who strangely felt light (emotionally and mentally).
As Anaida puts forth in her 'A Note from the Artist' - serendipity is perhaps the right word to describe this book in one word. The story behind this book and how it was conceptualized is equally mesmerizing as is the book and its illustrations.
"Repeated thoughts become a belief in time. - Anaida Parvaneh"
Her words keep ringing in your mind, as you wonder what all has become your belief by now. After all those years spent thinking and perhaps overthinking, your belief has changed beyond recognition. Anaida makes you think, makes you pause, and practice mindfulness with this book.
Her story of living with illnesses and a phase where doctors told her she would die (more than once) to have become a healer who is spreading the magic of life, love, and health through her workshops and books like these - is truly inspiring. Anaida is courage personified and this book is a testimony of that courage.
The way she talks about colours and their impacts, taking us further a bit into the world of colours by also sharing their role in our life, on our psyche and mind is deep and thought-provoking. I can never see colours again normally without analyzing them the way she has explained their meanings in this book.
If you are looking for a pause in life, this book is that pause.
If you are looking for meaning, this book is that dictionary.
If you are looking for a direction in life, this book is that compass.
Irrespective of age, caste, creed, colour, religion, and gender - this book has the magical ability to heal your heart, mind, body, and soul.
After all that 2020 has been about and 2021 seems to be becoming about, healing is something we all need in various forms. This is one form that I loved the most because it just did not feel like healing. It felt more like fun and brought out the inner child in me while playing with those colors.
Give yourself this gift of healing or share it with a loved one - but this book is one that is definitely recommended to read for everyone.
