The maze of mirrors has been accumulating energy for ages. When Vera and Mark unwittingly find themselves trapped in the maze, its passages prove to be the least of their problems. Its magic can be a great tool or weapon, as Queen Missena is learning, and they are at its mercy. As they travel through, the illusions created by the maze takes them to places unexpected and dangers unforeseen.

But Vera has magic of her own. Will her magic help her and Mark escape the maze? Or will they be trapped inside forever?

Behind the book

About the author

Elizabeth Joseph is a 14 year old 9th grade student at a Kansas City, US high school. She has written several short stories, poems and plays during her elementary and middle school years. She started writing Twin Reflections in the 5th grade and completed it 3 years later in 2015. She hopes that her example of publishing at such a young age will inspire new and upcoming authors.

Me thinks

Okay last few months have been too much of fantasy reading for me one after the other and no I am not at all complaining :) It feels good to leave the real world behind even if its for few hours.

Yet another compelling read by a debut author, one that makes you go WOW in every manner. For a 14 year old she has done an amazing job not only in the plot but also in the narration of the story. The most important thing in writing a fantasy is that the author has to weave a very intricate web of minute details nicely enough to keep the reader engrossed till the end and finally reveal it all in such a fashion that there are no loose ends left in it. And that is where the author gains a double bonus.

The plot is really enthralling to read and I loved the way how she kept the narration tight by getting straight to the action grabbing a reader's attention immediately. I loved the well defined characters, they give you a feeling of knowing them well enough to enjoy their journey. At some places the maze scenes do get confusing but somehow I feel it was done with an intention to retain the thrill in the plot and narration.  Kudos to the author for this!

The best part of this book is its language, the maturity and the power of her description. For this the book becomes un-put-down-able. You want to read it one go ( the fact that it is a short one also acts as a bonus point) and you enjoy it till the last word. Yes there are some questions which were left unanswered and some characters whose roles not justified in this part but then perhaps that is why there are going to be further more parts to this story where finally it will all fall into place.

I am eagerly waiting for the next part now and would recommend this book to each and every YA fantasy lover. I am sure this book will leave you asking for more.

Foodie Verdict
