An inspirational, entertaining, and informative book focusing on the craft of writing and the practical business of publishing, one that provides aspiring authors with the nuts and bolts of the business. A book that not only showcases prominent figures but emerging voices as well, writers working on a wide range of genres from the literary to the commercial.

In spite of their different backgrounds, education levels, and jobs, two factors more than any others bind these writers together: their passion and commitment to their craft and to sharing their stories with the world in spite of the odds.

Latina Authors and Their Muses is a celebration of creativity, the writer’s life, the passionate quest for spiritual and artistic freedom.

From the Foreword by Leticia Gomez

“Latina Authors and Their Muses is a celebration of creativity and the creative writing process, but it also offers savvy information about the industry itself, as well as agents and publishers. It also provides helpful hints and strategies regarding promotion and marketing, whether you are a fledging Latina writer just getting started or a multi-published, seasoned author who has been around the publishing block once or twice.

Me thinks

One of the first things I noticed about this book was its cover. So beautiful and lovely I couldn't help but say yes to it, add to it the fact that some wonderful authors were going to get up,close and personal in these interviews baring their hearts to one thing we love the most- writing.

Reading this book is an experience in itself, something I would recommend every reader and writer to go through. I learnt so much from these lovely ladies, that I feel this book is an encyclopedia in itself. They talk about their muses, qualifications, dreams, nightmares, worst secrets, tips, love, hates.. everything that would help one become a better author in every possible manner. It came to me at a particular time when I was looking for some serious answers on writing and what it meant to me in real life. And believe me, this BOOK has all the answers.

I have not only added some of them to my TBR list, I have also disciplined myself as  a writer basis this. It is enthralling to read some awe inspiring things people do for their love of writing, like one author who became a private detective just to be able to write books and another who discovered the love of writing after tearing down her first manuscript just to rewrite it more powerfully than before. The book does a commendable job of who these authors are before being authors as wives, mothers, daughters and a woman. This collection is an eye opener and it shows what all I lack and how much I need to work on my own skills as an author.

This is one book that HAS to be read by each and every writer who aspires to become an author. There are some beautiful life altering lessons in this one.One that will help you in your journey towards becoming an author.

Foodie Verdict

This book is like Burrito - crispy, crunchy, delicious and worth every single bite (word).

P.S: This is addictive, you might want to just keep on munching them.
