Shattered Dreams is the sequel to the national bestseller, Rise of the Sun Prince, in the new spiritual and motivational series Ramayana - The Game of Life. Twelve joyful years have passed in Ayodhya since the wedding of Rama and Sita at the end of Book 1.
Now, in Shattered Dreams, Shubha Vilas narrates the riveting drama of Rama’s exile. Through tales of Rama’s unwavering and enigmatic persona, the book teaches us how to handle reversals positively; through Bharata’s actions, it teaches us to handle temptation; and through Sita’s courage, to explore beyond our comfort zone. This complicated family drama provides deep insights on how human relationships work and how they fail.
With Valmiki’s Ramayana as its guiding light, Shattered Dreams deftly entwines poetic beauty from the Kamba Ramayana and Ramacharitramanas, as well as folk philosophy from the Loka Pramana tales, to demonstrate how the ancient epic holds immediate relevance to modern life. Experience the ancient saga of the Ramayana like never before.

I have had the privilege of reading and reviewing the first part of this series which makes this book like a must read for me. And needless to say BlogAdda came to my rescue and granted my wish!
It is an absolute honour to be reading this and reviewing it too. The author has delivered bang on the expectations of the readers with this one. When I had finished reading the first part there were certain questions in my mind which I hoped to have answered in the second book. And it was as if the author understood my doubts. This book is like a perfect continuation to the amazing part one.
The strength of this author is in the language he uses. Mythology as a segment needs a lot of effort on many fronts - one the facts need to be correct which involves a lot of research and then at the same time the language has to be lucid enough to help in making a connect with the reader.
This book looks at the deeper aspects of Ramayana like Shri Ram's coronation ceremony and all that follows post it. I like the detailing the author ensures to each and every character making it a very interesting read as you get to see the same thing from different point of views. The most loved thing in the book for me is the lessons he has shared in between the stories and the lovely footnotes. Some of life's most aweinspiring things have been shared there making it the most captivating read in a long run.
This is a book I would like to keep going back to again and again for the lessons it holds within. I still do that with the first part too as everytime you read it there are new lessons waiting for you there.Surely a recommended read for each one of you who has read Ramayana - to know it better and those who haven't - there cannot be a better teacher for you thank this book - Grab it NOW!
This book is like Papaya Barfi - unique and different.
